Delivering accurate time to a single server or workstation is technically simple – a bus card using GPS as a reference will deliver low latency time to the bus. But what if you have 25 servers? Do you use 25 GPS antenna systems?; a bank of GPS splitters with nanosecond phase matched cables?; a millisecond legacy technology like IRIG-B daisy-chained through your suite? And if you need to add 3 more servers in 6 months time? More cables? Another splitter because the other ones are full? And another 10 servers a year later?

Chronos’ solution is simple; use a Nanosecond Time network to deliver the time to a Korusys PCIe PTP client to deliver nanosecond accurate time to the bus. As with the TimeProvider Grandmaster, the Client uses physical layer time stamping technology to minimise uncertainties introduced from the IP stack.

Having delivered nanosecond time to the bus, use of the KoruSync application takes control of the Linux system clock; maintaining super accurate time for ALL processes running on the server.
