TimeSource 3600 GPS

Chronos has been selected by a utility company to provide a synchronisation solution for its Next Generation Network.

The utility required synchronisation to maximise bandwidth on its undersea cable. Supplying both domestic and business customers, it recognised the importance of time and timing in its network to enhance and improve existing levels of customer satisfaction. As customers migrate to Ethernet connectivity, a stable sync network is crucial to support legacy services such as fax which is still important to its business customers.


Chronos was selected by the utility to supply two TimeSource 3600 GPS Timing Receivers from its US partner Microsemi, together with two Hawk-i2 alarm monitoring units from UK partner Sinetica.

Using Rubidium atomic clock technology the TS3600 enhances the stability of the timing signal received from the GPS satellite system and gives superb holdover performance should GPS be lost, lending itself to remote or unmanned sites and locations, such as urban canyons, with minimal GPS coverage. If problems are encountered, the Hawk-i2s translate the TimeSource relay contacts into SNMP traps. Hawk-i2 has the additional benefit of monitoring the temperature and humidity of the environment where the PBX VoIP switch is housed.

The sync solution installed and supported by Chronos maintains both legacy as well as new Ethernet services.
