Chronos to showcase GAARDIAN at Counter Terror Expo
Improving the Safety and Security of Timing & Location based Applications such as Marine Navigation, Airports, Harbours and Communication Networks
Lydbrook, Gloucestershire, UK, 16 March 2010 – Chronos Technology will be showcasing the GAARDIAN project on stand M11 at Counter Terror Expo taking place at Olympia in London 14-15 April 2010.
GAARDIAN is researching data gathering from GPS and eLoran transmissions in order to qualify integrity and accuracy of the signals. The project will lead to the development of a GPS jamming and interference detection system that will provide early warning of potential terrorist use of jamming to block applications that use GPS or Galileo. GAARDIAN will improve the safety and security of timing and location based applications such as marine navigation, airports, harbours and communication networks which rely on the nanosecond accuracy of GPS and eLoran signals.
A business and academic consortium led by Chronos, GAARDIAN is the acronym for “GNSS Availability, Accuracy, Reliability anD Integrity Assessment for Timing and Navigation”. The project has received a major research grant from the government sponsored Technology Strategy Board for £2.2m.
The other consortium members are BT Design, The General Lighthouse Authorities, Imperial College London, National Physical Laboratory, Ordnance Survey and University of Bath.
