We wish you a happy and prosperous 2016 and welcome to the first GNSS edition of the Chronos Times. Apart from a number of new exciting products shown below, the best news we had just before Christmas was that eLoran transmissions for timing and data services will be maintained going forward. Whilst the rest of Europe has decided to close down its old Loran-C transmitters, the UK has confirmed that eLoran transmissions from Anthorn will continue. This is early days for this new service.
Readers of this newsletter will know that over the last few years Chronos has played a leading role in the assessment of GPS vulnerabilities through research projects including GAARDIAN and SENTINEL. This work continues with the latest Innovate UK GAUL (Galileo Assist Using eLoran) project where we will be exploring the use of the Loran data channel to broadcast Galileo (and GPS) ephemeris data and localised differential timing corrections. It will demonstrate that eLoran is a viable complementary precise timing service to both GPS and Galileo based timing receivers for telecom, broadcasting, financial services, energy and defence markets.
